I had fun with this. Got the idea from Pinterest. The hardest part was punching the row of holes in the bottle to attach the yarn. It looks quite functional and I am using it to carry my nursing supplies to work - scissors, pens, badge etc. It seems to woks so will see how long it lasts.

Great idea to recycle plastic bottles, I've seen those used to hold a ball of wool, better than a plastic bag.I must take time to make one or two......Marilynruth.

Great idea! Were there any instructions on Pinterest? Perhaps you would be kind enoufh to quote the instructions. Thank you.
Hi Nana Pamela, I just ad libbed. You can see where I cut with scissors the plastic bottle, then I punched holes with a hole, puncher and needed small pointy scissors to knock out the bits of plastic. I made the holes pretty close together. Then with a black strong Aran yarn, I sewed a blanket stitch around through the holes. Then with a bulkier yarn I did single crochet all the way around a few rounds, switched to half double crotchets then triple crickets to make it grow quicker. Then I crocheted an eyelet row and finished with another single crochet round. The tie was made from just a chain of crochet stitches. very easy. Oh the strap.... I just started picking up crochet stitches but you could make a crochet one and sew it on. You could make a long one to use as a shoulder strap. this would also be a good way to store knitting needles!

Cute! My girls would love making and carrying bags like this, and it would be a fun summer project. Thanks for sharing!
You are welcome! I'm thinking it could be made with fabric too. Start with crochet for a round or two and then use a cute fabric and a drawstring top. Also smaller soda bottles could be used. I just like the large size. I will make more I think!

A really good way to do the holes is, does anyone remember the old paper that went into the printer, the paper with the holes on the edges that you could tear off? Tear off a strip as long as needed, then either tape it on temporarily or mark the holes with a marker, and us a paper punch to punch the holes. Good Luck and God Bless

That would be a great way to do it. I don't see that printer paper anymore. Maybe you can still get it. Will have to check Office Max. Thanks for the suggestion.
