It’s cute! 😈
It’s inexpensive. But I’d like to knit it myself.
Not for myself, because I don’t think my 6’ height needs any added inches.
Yes, I could probably knit it without a pattern, but I ask, just in case anyone has see a similar FREE pattern.
I see six wedges stockinette with another six wedges reverse stockinette between them. It’s the decreases and swirl I don’t quite understand.

Found this free pattern on Ravelry that is similar (2nd photo) to J-J's Temu hat. However there are no projects posted on Ravelry, so I don't know if there's an issue with the pattern. It is knitted sideways and in the round. I downloaded the pattern and took a quick look at the pattern. I may try it to see how it turns out. Adjustments could be made to the pattern to make it look more like the Temu hat.

Nope, no sideways that I can see. She does SHOW one hat knitted with two contrasting colours, but I don’t see any mention of just HOW to do it. I shudder at the thought of two ends for each band of colour!
The last photo is of a variegated yarn on her mother-in-law - only two yarn ends.

I lean towards the sideways-knit version. Maybe I can use the SidewinderBeanie as a base?

So cute, I promised myself I would never click on Temu and.....yet, I did.

The hat is cute …reminds me of Hershey’s kisses …just need the little paper pull that comes out of the top. View attachment 1403291
YES IT DOES…..I LIVE IN HERSHEY AND SURE WOULD LIKE THIS PATTERN

There are qite a few baby hats on that overall theme (but kit bottom to top), and the 'tail' at the top is often turned into an overhand knot. The condensed design would make for good storage in a glove compartment or purse, in case of stalls in a cold winter, etc. Elation

To me, the twist at the top could be achieved by only decreasing on one side of the top of the "triangle", rather than on both sides. Like how the "almost lost" dishcloth swirls toward the center. But rather than flat, one could/should make it a hat shape. I think one could maybe adapt the Sidewinder Beanie shared above, by making the wedges longer, and perhaps narrower? Or narrower at the top of the hat?

The first two attributes on the Ravelry page of the Elf Point pattern are in-the-round and sideways. I was up in the wee hours and needed to sleep so I just skimmed over the pattern. After reading it all the way through, I quickly realized it was not a sideways construction.
My favorite beret hat pattern is knit sideways, but is all garter stitch. I might try converting it to knit and purl sections, but not sure if I want to spend a lot of time on it.

I don’t suppose there’s a link for it, is there?

I wonder if this hat involves short rows? Seems like that is the only way to make the top smaller than the bottom. Sigh, I have other things I need to do but now I'm intrigued with helping to solve this.
Assuredly! It’s the shaping that’s beyond my ken.

The pattern for the sideways beret is the Mystic Wave Wedge Beret. I found it on Pinterest some years ago and the link led me to A.C. Moore. I downloaded it to my personal files on my C drive. Tried to send the pattern link to a friend, but the link no longer works as A.C. Moore is out of business. The link takes you to the Michael's website where I've searched for the pattern with no luck. I haven't been able to find a link to the pattern since. It is not on Ravelry and no specific designer, just A.C. Moore Craft Team.
