I have always had a problem with my bind off being too tight. I am delighted to share a bind off which I found and used on my moebius cowl. I used cat Bordhi's Lacy Cowl. Here is a link to the bind off I used.

I also knitted Amyknits pattern. Both were an easy knit. I love them both. I think I will make another one of Amy's and make in longer.

Hahaha, that's the very first bind-off I learned as a small child - believe it or not, from my Granny - so it's very well named for me, grandma's favorite bind-off, it was the only one my Granny used - I don't actually know if she even knew others...

You could bind off with larger needles.

I did bind off with larger needles; that's the technique I have mainly used. This was Plymouth's Souk yarn (silk and wool blend) and I think the bind off could be prettier. The pattern says to steam block; does that make a difference as opposed to soaking in Eucalan and flat blocking?

I really love the Interlocking Bind Off. It is a sewn bindoff that is very stretchy--the most that I have found to date. It also matches the German twisted Cast On which is how I discovered it. The instructions can be found on Knitty.com but it seems to be getting better known and is showing up on other sites.

I really love the Interlocking Bind Off. It is a sewn bindoff that is very stretchy--the most that I have found to date. It also matches the German twisted Cast On which is how I discovered it. The instructions can be found on Knitty.com but it seems to be getting better known and is showing up on other sites.

I did not know about the interlocking bind off. I found it very interesting. I like the way Grandma's Loose bind off looks.

If you try the Interlocking Bind Off I think you will like it. It also looks good. The other bind offs have their place but not for ultimate stretchiness in my book.

Thank you for this cast/bind off method: new to me and a very useful option.

I generally cast off (like several others have already said) with a larger needle size. How many sizes bigger depends on the thickness of the yarn.

Last year I bough Leslie Ann Bestor's book Cast On Bind Off which has 54 different methods with several photos of each method; spiral bound, so you can lay it flat. It's a gem

I bought Bestor's book to see what new tricks she had for me and there were a few. It is well done and can be a valuable travel resource for people as it is not large and spiral binding makes it convenient.
