I spent quite a bit on Malabrigo Arroyo Superwash to make a simple rectangular poncho. Now I'm thinking it was a mistake because of all that I'm reading on how this yarn stretches during blocking. Does steam blocking work?

I think perhaps you should dry it in the dryer to prevent stretching, but take it out while it's barely damp. Lay it flat and pat it into the correct measurements, then let it dry the rest of the way. This should work.

I don't make Cabled Sweaters with Superwash, because I read it does not hold the cables well. However, I made some pretty Lacy tops for myself with Superwash, and blocked them and they came out very nice. I only hand wash them. I think that makes a difference. Cascade 220 Superwash is my favorite.
