What a festive way to begin the season. Pumpkins are good decor items, from Halloween until Christmas. This knit pattern is simple and could be dressed up with accessories (i.e. doll eyes or embroidered ones, a scarf, straw hat, etc). On a popsicle stick, it could also be a scarecrow, adding eyes and other facial features. (I don't think I've ever owned any orange yarn).

I think an orange fluffy type yarn with spangles would be cute. My grandmother knit a simple stocking knit hat for my 9th Christmas. It had these sparkly spangles knit into the cap, which twinkled and made a sort of very faint chime sound when the outdoor winds blew. I enjoyed walking to the school bus stop, just to hear the hat. I loved that hat. It's hard to find spangles now.

This hat is close to what an updated look might be.
