Hi everyone , I would like some info about Christine who passed away earlier this year. She sent me a beautiful
piece of embroidery that she stitched. She sent it about three or fours years ago, so I didn’t keep any of her particulars. Now that she is gone, I would like to frame it. But I would like to put a post it note on the back of it, telling a little about her. I was hoping some one on KP would know a little of her background, and just what city she lived in and when she passed away, etc. thank you. Carla

You might get a better response if you post this request in the other crafts section.
Why would you say that after I just said we can't know who it is or give out that information. If someone wants to do it privately, it would be okay, but not on this public site.

Exactly. If she posts on the other Crafts section, someone may recognize the name and be able to provide the most basic information through a private message. I did read her request as directed at admin, which of course can’t share any information, so didn’t realize I was posting something wrong.
ETA - I was trying to say that I did NOT read her request as directed at admin, but requesting help from fellow members. Which it looks like many were able to provide.

Sjlegrandma
In Memorium · From Melbourne,Australia

Perhaps this is who you are searching for.
I’m sure this is the Christine that the OP is asking about. Christine (Sjlegrandma) was a prolific charity knitter. She lived in Melbourne, Australia. Some of you may remember her epic undertaking to knit a ‘Beans the Cat’ toy every day for a year…yes, she knitted 365 of them to be sold to raise funds for a cat rescue charity.
She also did beautiful embroidery and made many gorgeous greeting cards as the photo shows. These cards and her knitted items were donated to and sold in a few Hospital gift shops. She spoke of her grandchildren, especially Liam, who had some challenges in his young life and also had an incredible singing voice. He sang in his school choir as well as the local Cathedral’s choir. Christine was the most talented crafter and gave to this world much, much more than she took. I was proud to have ‘known’ her as a friend on KP. I hope Ozgal can fill you in with more info as she and Christine were very close friends. I really miss her. Jen

Lovely tribute to Christine. 💗
She was a talented lady and her tiny cats were so very delightful.

What a lovely tribute…

I was also a "friend" of Christine, even though I had not met her, as she lived in Melbourne and I live in Sydney....we talked with each other from time to time, by phone, and I have been the recipient of many of her cards, hand made paper flowers etc. She was one of the most generous people I knew of......she wouldn't even let me pay the postage on the boxes of things she sent me. I miss her dearly.

Thank you all for this response. Sjlegrandma is who I am talking about. She also shared her cats pattern with me and I made 125 of them for the local churches shoe boxes. Then she also shared her matchbox babies pattern too. . I made about 100 of them for the next years shoeboxes. She was always so kind and generous. I miss her too.

I am so touched by the lovely comments and appreciation of Christine ( Sjlegrandma ), who became a very close friend even though we lived in different cities. I have this forum to thank for a wonderful friendship.
Others have spoken of Christine's generosity and thoughtfulness, and I fully endorse those sentiments.
I am involved in fundraising for a local day program for disabled adults and Christine was a huge supporter. Fortnightly, without fail, a large box of her beautifully crafted cards and other very saleable items would arrive by post. She point blank refused my offers of reimbursement for postage costs and insisted I was getting the point of insulting her.
She did love to receive boxes of interesting yarn though as it sparked her creativity.
Oh how I miss her ...we shared our life's ups and downs, and this week in particular as I recover from a heart attack I am missing her dreadfully.

Yes, Christine was an amazing person, I was sure you would have more wonderful things to relate about her creativity and generosity.
Oh my goodness Elizabeth. I am so sorry to hear of your heart attack. {{{healing hugs}}} are being sent to you. Please look after yourself. Jen xx

Are her cat and matchbox babies patterns available ? I would like to make some in her memory and to carry on her good works.
